Website Developer Edinburgh

Websites Portfolio

I aim to make websites that are enjoyable, user-friendly and accessible. I like using animation effects that create a richer user experience as long as they do not prevent the page from working on older browsers or devices that don't support the technology used.

All my websites have been developed so they comply with current web standards using technologies such as HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript and Flash.

Marjorie Lotfi Gill

Hypnbtherapy Edinburgh

Edinburgh-based writer Marjorie Lotfi Gill needed a fairly simple website that will allow people to get in touch, read some of her publications and see what she is currently working on. I created a portfolio website based on the WordPress system, using an existing responsive, minimalist template that I customised by adding a hero image and adding an events plugin.

Cosysleep travel pillow

Start-up company cosy-ideas, who produces a clever inflatable travel pillow with adjustable suction cups in a variety of funky colours and variants, had commissioned a complete website redesign and a fresh new corporate identity. I programmed this exclusive Wordpress theme to design specifications by grafikcafé Munich. The website has a content management system and includes a blog and web shop.

Tangerding PR

Homepage of Tangerding PR

This website surprises its visitors not only with its unusual design by Ursula Machat of grafikcafé Munich which uses a very rounded font and various images of marbles to support the claim that this Munich based PR business gets your marketing campaign rolling, but also with some fancy hover effects which add a dash of colour to the monochromatic design. Intuitive, simple content management system and HTML5 standard compliant.

Role: Website development

Dr. Michael Herrmann

The website of Dr Herrmann, alternative practitioner for psychotherapy in Munich, was coded entirely according to the new HTML5 standard. Charm School Germany

Charm School Germany website

Specialising in Burlesque dance classes for hen nights the Edinburgh based company Charm School are looking to expand their business into the German market where the custom of having hen nights away is only just starting to take off. With a content management system in the back the website serves not only as an online presence and point of contact for their services in the local language, but also contains a news section, promotions slider, randomly displayed testimonials and a booking form.

Migrate Business Relocation Glasgow

Migrate Business Relocations Glasgow website

The mission for the redesign of the website of Glasgow office relocation specialists Migrate (which I had developed a few years earlier) was to optimise the layout for different screen sizes and to give the pages a more contemporary look. I retired the original Flash splash screen, and moved the gold fish motif which is part of their branding into an animated slideshow instead. Additionally I replaced the former blue colour scheme with a more stylish grey and orange one and added social bookmarking functionality.

Role: Front-end design and development

Parchow Tax Accountants

Marc Parchow website

I programmed this website to design specifications from German designers Grafikcafé Munich. The slanting lines posed some interesting development challenges. My first attempt at rotating text using the CSS3 transform property produced very mixed results in different browsers, so I used some of the methods from Eric Meyer's slantastic demo instead. A contact form that overlays the page and the use of the Google Maps JavaScript API add further value to the user experience.

Role: Front-end development

Fuchs fördern und Chancen schaffen

fuchs bildung homepage

A charming website design by Grafikcafé Munich for which I took over the coding work. The website for this charitable initiative which provides learning support to primary children from migrant backgrounds in Munich has a simple content management system in the backend and a custom-built blog. It is an ongoing project with new features and pages being added from time to time.

Role: web development

Mayfield & Easthouses Youth 2000 Project

Mayfield & Easthouses Youth 2000 Project website

My redesign of this youth development charity (done free of charge) allows the organisation to publish their own updates and incorporates elements of their branding as well as photography of the facilities and the young people who use the service. It also doubles up as online presence for Midlothian Garden Service, a social enterprise which is run by the charity.

East Lothian LPG Conversions

The brief for the website for this East Lothian garage which specialises in LPG conversions included researching and copy writing for this rather specific area of automotive technology. I used a green colour scheme in line with the environmentally friendly concept of LPG (Autogas) powered cars.
